Enneagram Personality Test (2019 rerun)

Comments

I know the enneagram isn’t empirically supported whatsoever… but I almost perfectly identify with the description of Fours 🤣 I think I see the types as “archetypes” more that discrete categories with predictive power

To add the thing that these types are avoiding, they are avoiding it because to them it means like a loss of love or attachement

I have read and investigated a lot about the enneagram and i was introduced to it through mysticism lense (sufism) The roots of the enneagram are a unclear topic, but some groups link it back to gurdieff. The goal of the enneagram as i know it is actually the opposite of what you are doing: not to say: this is me! Or, "thats totally my neighbour" But to recognise "rusted in" patterns, and to rise above them, and being able to see possible causes of behaviour and make maps of how personality can work sometimes. Gurdieff also believed we move through different types in our lives, and your type is more meant to represent your motivation in life than any kind of personality type. 1: motivation to be perfect 2: motivation to be helping 3:motivation to achieve 4:motivation to be different than others 5:motivation to know most 6:motivation to be prepared 7:motivation to have fun 8: motivation to righteousness 9: motivated to keep peace 1:avoiding mistakes 2:avoiding self indulgence 3: avoiding lazyness 4: avoiding fitting in 5: avoiding being surprised 6: avoiding fear 7: avoiding boredom 8: avoiding compliance 9:avoiding conflict All the personality type stuff is exactly the opposite of what the enneagram was supposed to be about. Love your podcasts btw i am now studying psychology in part because of your podcasts. I am also not too convinced by the enneagram, there are a lot of enthousiasts out there and a lot of people making money off of it, but its a bit limeted and rigid
