Comments

Inevitably an Australian needs to make comment on US politics, so it may as well be me. US politics is extremely weird and Americans really need to get out and have a look at what the rest of the world is doing. The US seems driven more by beliefs and mental health issues and aggressive American capitalism more than anything that’s political and Left or Right wing. Australia still has its fair share of frustrating and annoying politics, but our day-to-day life in the community and our opinions of others are mostly guided by personal relationships. I can’t comprehend the situation in United States right now where communities and friendship groups are heavily guided by political leanings.

I see all my old friends from my small town living out in Alberta with strong right wing politics on FB. They are the same ones who will overly like/comment when I “Post” an annual family photos that are left-leaning. Then I notice others unfriend me silently as I had not been aware my strongish “comments” on politics were shown in their feed?!? Thanks FB. I do also think both sides “extreme” show respect to one another other while others don’t like politics. I get it. But to unfriend a person you grew up with in a small community just because of politics is harsh.
