Great episode. Re: Contextual Family Therapy and capitalism, There’s a near universal human practice of reciprocity in anthropology called the gift economy—a practice of giving and receiving without the expectation of payment that’s practiced to strengthen relationships or express kinship ties. Some societies hold actual ledgers while others are more informal/mental ledgers of this. This exists outside of modern capitalism. And is practiced in both ancient and modern cultures. The sense of fairness and reciprocity is strong with humans.
