2024-10-29 21:57:51 +0000 UTCIt’s BLUFF! According to a study published in Nature, the proportion of toxic comments (defined as “rude, disrespectful, or unreasonable comments likely to make someone leave a discussion”) has remained consistent over the past couple decades. 2024-10-29 18:37:07 +0000 UTCI think it’s bluff! I think more attention has been drawn to it over various scandals like on Reddit and YouTube which makes us think it’s more prevalent at the same time as moderation being ramped up. Kind of like the news reporting on violent crime when it has actually consistently gone down.

2024-10-29 14:35:28 +0000 UTCI think it's Tough and I think former Pres Donald Trump has something to do with it. People feel more free to say awful things out loud when they see their leaders do it.
