TToB: The most frequent worry for American parents is worrying about their child being bullied. Tough or Bluff???

What is the source of this statistic?

SojoLife

It’s BLUFF! 76% of parents worry about their child struggling with mental illness, followed by being bullied, being kidnapped, and getting attacked.

My biggest worry is around sexual harassment/ abuse...

Yep, school shooting is my top worry. Self-esteem is a concern too but I can see that coming more than a shooting.

I would think #1 school shootings. & I’d be more concerned if my child WERE a bully, rather than being bullied. I’d hope to raise them with the confidence to stand up for what’s right in a respectful way

Probably more worried about being shot these days.

I would say my biggest worry changes on the day. Bullying is a worry in the back of my mind but building self confidence and decision making skills are my biggest priority. If any signs of bullying are present, then it would rise to the top of the list—so far I haven’t had to worry.

My worry is about school shootings. Just about a week ago a kid was stopped at the door at my child's school and taken into custody when they found a gun on him. Someone tipped off the school. But imagine if they kept it to themself and no one knew what they were planning to do? This is getting more a more common. This is the first year my kids have been in a brick and mortar school too. I home schooled them before now. It does not give me much confidence sending my kids to public school. I thought about pulling them out actually. I still wonder if I am wrong not to.

Pedophiles, drugs, college debt, the future of our planet...so many things to worry about.

Personally I have general worries about their safety but my own childhood experience with bullying does have me very concerned they will experience similar things. I don’t want them to suffer that way. Of course I am also scared about their physical safety in terms of firearms, extreme weather etc, the political climate of the country… but those feel more abstract than the things I’ve experienced myself that I don’t want to happen to them. So it occupies my mind in a more significant way, probably. -Erin
