The Psychology of Elon Musk (Chapter 13 - The Thailand Turn)

Comments

Elon went to Waterkloof House Preparatory School. Those kids who tried to murder Elon should have been put in a solitary confinement control unit in prison. They should not be members of society even to this day. Who are they, and where are they now? Elon could take the path of Paris Hilton and get those schools shutdown.

Li Ro

This episode was the best one yet in my opinion. I felt like I was really in Elon's shoes, seeing thing through his eyes, and that is quite the accomplishment. I used to watch a lot of videos about caving accidents and I definitely did not know all the nuances of the Thailand incident. Either way I'm never going caving

Softnoodles

Yeah that one really got to me too! I imagined what it would feel like for me if the people that I look up to in that way would disapprove of me....oof. yeah that would sting

Softnoodles

I'm so sorry you went through that

Carolyn Burnett

The pain in that man’s eyes as he addressed the disapproval from his heroes - oh ouch! It makes me think they must have been a part of his imagined solution to his experiences of Unsafety and violence throughout his life - “if I get my heroes to love me then I will be safe finally.”

Love

Oh wow I definitely had a very biased recollection of the Thailand event...

Kiki Mov

I can relate to Elon's experience of violence. I've experienced the "gang hunting you down thing". Twice in school. It's terrifying. Hiding in doorways, stairwells, alley ways. And the fear crescendos when they find you. And the physical pain is nothing compared to the shame and vulnerability that comes afterward. Especially if your parents think it's "just what kids do" despite the concussion from having my head "bashed against the side walk", the bruises, sprains and rib injuries. It changes who you were supposed to be.

Civic Tides

Regarding what the diver said: not only was it a reference to a sexual act, but also, a reference to pain. (stick it) ”where it hurts”.

Silvia Rasheva

Your philosophical discussion made me wonder, have you guys seen the movie ”The Prestige”? If not, I strongly recommend.

Silvia Rasheva

this is a Bildungsroman! a Citizen Kane quality stuff

Sisa D.

No chance. He was born in South Africa. But definitely can work behind/front of doors to influence an election

Meral Topcu

This is excellent stuff! Thanks for making me feel terrible about some of the things I've said about him! I actually had no idea about what his childhood was like. However, he is getting worse and more dangerous - this stuff in unfolding in real-time, as he just appeared at a Trump rally. He is paying people to go out and vote! And, like you said, he is still young, he still has a lot of time left to influence politics. What are the chances that he will run for president one day?

Louise

I am loving this series and learning so much. Also can’t get enough of how empathetic and insightful both of you are. Thanks for the great content! I’m telling my friends about it.
