The Psychology of Elon Musk (Chapter 11 - The Big Reveal)

Comments

thing grown up elon gets bullied for: -lying about being a top-tier gamer while paying some top-tier gamer to play on elon’s account and achieve a masterful rank to pretend he is a top gamer sith-lord or whatever. -he didn’t get invited to 2020 electric vehicle summit at the white house because biden is pro-union and elon is fighting against workers organizing for safe, fair working conditions. his new role of cadet villain enabled him to steal and/or adulterate of data servers of all usaicans for surveillance and profit. -he paid to have a cameo in an ironman movie despite not being in show business or the arts. this bratty, old man is not entitled to the good humor or the masses every time he demands our attention. it’s not our role to coddle feelings of the man who abandoned his bakers dozen to unlock the ‘first trillionaire’ badge. i really appreciate other commenters’ posts regarding the ending analysis of this chapter. he has the means to get help, it is his responsibility to pursue that and do the work. elon is the man who loves to dish out promoted algo twitter fighting words but starts sieg heiling and torching democracy if we refuse to put on kid gloves for him. shout out to the commenter who mentioned the walter isaacson biography. i’m convinced he’s been using ivf to have as many boy children as possible since justine’s pregnancies. i also believe all the tweets azalea banks put out about this man.

Deep breath is such a great addition! I miss the "you really really do" line though :(

I completely agree with Humberto on the last part of the podcast. Bullying should be condemned at every case. But bullying is was what created the Elon of today. He was widely idolized online before the downfall started. The existence of online trolls, him being the richest person on earth, (that on it's own would bring haters even if he had not been involved in any controversy) and chronically online available to everyone on Twitter... There would always be some bullies , or mentally unwell people that would attack him. Even if they were extremely few, his past trauma would magnify these voices... I also don't get the comparison Dr. Kirk makes to a couple that comes for counseling. In that example he gives then the tools to move forward to their common goal, instead of pointing fingers to who's more at fault... Ok. But there's is no common goal here. Musk and his critics want to achieve fundamentally different things. People don't ridicule Musk (or Trump for that matter) , in order for him to change. They do it out of frustration, towards a threatening power against whom they are powerless.

I’ve never thought about this but there’s a lot to dive into here! What’s popular among consumers and why, the industry, how it impacts our views of sex, etc.

Paige McAra

The whole thing with the step daughter made me think about how 'step family' is one of the most watched (if not the most) section in porn sites. I wonder what this says about our collective psyche. I know it's a touchy subject, but I'd love a deep dive on porn because people don't talk about it (taboo!) but I believe it's says so much about us as humans, as society, etc. Cheers!

One irony is Musk wanting radically free speech for the world but he’s unable to say what his dad did, specifically, due to internalized censorship and shame.

It's a bit chilly listening to your discussion about the date of recording and knowing Musk's response toward Taylor Swift just a few days later after her message endorsing Harris/Walz while also embraced the childless cat lady title.

Kylie Abbott

I feel like the liberal angle at the end should have its own content warning.

I dont know if I agree on your analysis at the end. I think a lot of people get publicly blamed and hate but they dont turn into a biggots. I remeber you talking about conspiracy theories and linking it to attachement and how they project their feelings of abuse/lying parents while young and project that in the world, like thats what you can expect, cause everyone lies. I feel thats a better analysis. If he believes his father is evil maybe he projects that on the world and tries to connect to people who gives him attention (which they do because he has money and is in money making fields). Its like the validation hes never had. Probably also tied to it cause they are seen as outcasts and thats how hes always felt. Just a thought. Thanks for this series !

My thoughts exactly

Would anyone else here love to see Elon do a 2-3 hour long form interview with Dr Honda?? I like Dr. Honda’s take on this situation. I think that he makes good points. I had no idea of the amount of abuse and mistreatment Elon has suffered. He definitely could have turned out much worse and I think he (and many others) could use more compassion and less judgement. That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t call out his bad behavior but we should balance that with compassion.
