The Psychology of Elon Musk (Chapter 9 - Woke Mind Virus)

Comments

Given the sexual misconduct allegations that are coming out recently, like the incident with the flight attendant, it feels a bit unsettling that Elon Musk mentioned on a podcast that he once pitched a skit for SNL where he would expose himself to the audience. He said the idea was to 'test how live SNL really was' by seeing if the viewers would actually witness it. It's interesting—and concerning—that he conceptualized a skit that revolves around what could be perceived as a form of sexual harassment.

I always have such an aversion to people stating they're "free speech absolutist"s. 99% of the time they're not. Being an absolutist means you don't even want to censor content even if it's illegal (i.e. gore and the likes), which vast majority of people DO want blocked off. They're not absolutists they just draw the line elsewhere. Berto as always making terrific points

A cyber truck broke down in Seattle due to the suspension and became a tourist attraction.

I first started seeing "woke" on Tumblr in 2014. A lot of SJW posts and people saying things like "stay woke"

Mel Chinnici

Yeah, we get into that in the final chapter, I think.

Could be. I'm sure it's complicated. I just remember that moment when I said "woke" and my friends from a red state laughed at me.

I think white liberals killed the word woke before the right stole it. I remember when center right liberals istarted doing performative wokeness and then the left used it ironically. Then right wingers started to use it to dismiss critical race theory and other perceived threats as the same liberals in power kept diluting what the left really wanted.

Very interesting, as always! I hope you will talk a little more about ASD at some point because it seems to me that it could explain a lot, including the difficulty in relating to others, to meet social needs in general, and not being entirely grounded in reality as most people perceive it, etc. I'm not sure that it's a developmental delay as such? But, of course, it's not a justification for harming others..

Daphnee

Clown, cad, Thomas Edison, PT Barnum, I would receive all of those as insults.
