They make notebooks that say “Another Meeting That Could Have Been An Email.” I gave one to my manager for Christmas a few years ago. He got the hint. I also find it interesting that they keep mentioning Clinton, who also “did not inhale.”

Ugh the MEETINGS conversation was so relatable. It feels almost universal at this point. Thankfully I work from home so I can fold laundry during them 😂

Hahahahahahaha OMG your guys’ rant about useless meetings is SPOT ON! 🤣🤣🤣 But also, I agree! Having the power to say “this meeting is not a priority for me/my work” and skip it is incredible! It’s actually kinda funny…my current workplace has an odd mix of the two; it’s certainly the first workplace where I have experienced having a bit more control over my work/work environment. 👍

As someone who worked admin at a mental health practice, we don’t want or need the psychiatrists and clinicians there. Especially if they’re the director. Because most of the time, billing knows more and better than them. That’s ok. That’s why we’re here.

I'm an engineer and the idea to skip unimportant meetings has been applauded throughout my career and gained popularity. As a meeting host it puts me in a position to strategize more about the content and who to involve, which it should, as people who don't want to come to my meetings won't. Also in my current job, when I share with others that I skipped meetings it is celebrated. Engineers love to think critically about literally everything, especially considering efficiency and thinking outside the box. It's a space where I actually feel quite comfortable with fully being myself because we get each other in this way. It is similar to Dr. Honda's way of thinking and I think he would get along well with engineers.

I love the whole "ditch the meeting" thing. I learned about it from you guys in an older episode. It has given me the balls to say no in the face of peer pressure. A colleague recently asked me to join him at our monthly billing meeting and I said "No thanks, not unless my attendance is required." Totally threw him off but I stood firm. For context, I am a physician at a private practice. We have billing people to handle the billing things. Why would I want to crowd my brain with that? I think some people just mindlessly go where their Google calendar tells them to go, or they feel they need to show their face to look good. I would rather cut these corners and spend the extra time finishing my work so I can get home to my kids.

Grimes has at times identified as non-binary. I was curious how this plays into the timeline & hypotheses about his daughter coming out from the last chapter… if he was dating grimes around the same time this must’ve influenced his perception somewhat? Grimes also has said lots of controversial things but overall seemed to be more “woke”
