TToB: The final job applicant interviewed is more likely to be hired. Tough or Bluff???

Comments

Speaking as someone who has interviewed candidates for a position, interviews are often stacked back to back so by the end of the days you’re just exhausted. It’s probably the same effect as being seen by a judge just before lunch time—punishments tend to be greater at that point.

It’s BLUFF! It’s the opposite. Research suggests that the later the interview, the lower the evaluation. (DOI: 10.1037/pspa0000383)

I would think primary interviews are conducted with the most qualified candidates first, so just based of that I'd think it's a bluff

Sofiya

I think bluff because the primacy effect is more profound than the recency effect in job interviews.

Caitlin Ouellette

Definitely tough, but this statistic is likely influenced by the fact that many interviewers will stop interviewing once they’ve found a candidate they’d like to hire.
