The Psychology of Elon Musk (Chapter 1 - Intro)

Comments

This is a bit old but well. I think people like listening to this podcast because it is generally quite nuanced. And because of the absolutely stubborn tendency towards empathy even when we are talking about the worst people. I think most people are here because they like having their beliefs challenged, so yeah, I really wouldn't worry about falling into one specific camp. I can't stand elon musk, even when everyone liked him i found him annoying. But it will do my brain good to listen to some nuance about thar

Thank you Dr.Kirk for having the forethought to post this last year. This gov worker thanks you.

watching this way after the fact, I genuinely believe part of the shift in perception of Elon Musk — from being seen as a next-level human, a genius, and the greatest businessman in the world — comes from what Humberto referred to as that Santa Claws isn't real effect. In the past 3-4 years, we've seen so many figures like Elizabeth Holmes and Sam Bankman-Fried, who claimed to be innovators. The industry rallied around them, seeing them as the next Albert Einstein simply because they didn't fit the mold of the typical person in their field. Investors thought, 'Wow, this person must be a once-in-a-generation genius.' But after seeing how many of these figures turned out to be con artists, people have become exhausted with so-called 'innovators' who promise the world, deliver very little, yet still manage to cultivate a cult of personality. I think people are becoming a bit wiser, realizing that Elon is more glitter than gold. Of course, his involvement in political issues, like with Trump, plays a role too, but even some Trump supporters I know are starting to get tired of him.

How I feel about it was very well said by Juliana Reider, "I’m not anti Elon. (If it helps you feel better!) I feel very open to learning a more wholistic picture about him and would consider myself undecided. Thanks for this deep dive"

Finally starting this! Kirk, I think at this point you should give up on the idea that you will ever make a deep dive that is just "2 episodes or so" 😂

Softnoodles

And Dan Savages love cast episode about the realities of trying to live on another planet & trying to repopulate it. I think it’s called space sex or something.

10/10 recommend the, True Crime & Cocktails, episode about Elon if you haven’t already listened. It talks more about crime & suspicious behaviour or bad behaviour in general. However skip the first 20-30 minutes of their episode if you don’t want to listen to random banter with hosts you may not know. But maybe you talk about all that in this deep dive. The crimes & weird creep behaviour I mean.

Why did he turn away from the dem party? Free speech guys. . The dem establishment wants only correct thinking and speech. Correct for their current narrative. He along with many others got severely burned by them. Research it.

Sally Story

What stands out most about musk to me is that he’s a very brave visionary. Quite a combo.
