This was a fantastic episode, thank you. I have a child with severe ADHD and the analogies that you guys used and how you broke it down gave me a clarity beyond what seven years of psychologists and occupational therapists could provide. I would love more on this topic; about parenting kids with ADHD and high functioning autism.

This is a really interesting conversation. Dr. Haas is a great guest!

I worked inpatient adolescent psych. Had some homicides in kids under 5. Usually their new siblings….!

Meghan McCarthy

Great conversation 👌

The NYT article mentioned “Can You Call a 9-Year-Old a Psychopath?” is a great overview on this topic.

I’m a youth mental health case manager. I recently had twin 3-year-olds who were reported to have killed two cats and cannot be around animals because they, according to their parent, enjoy hurting and killing them. My supervisor and I were kind struck by how young they were and what they had done, and the fact that they enjoy it. I’m wondering what was going on with them biologically and what that sort of behavior from that young communicates about how they will turn out when they’re older.

The whole child psychopathy part really reminded me of the portrayal of Azula in Avatar: The Last Airbender. If you have seen the show, would you consider making a video about the psychology of Azula and also of Zuko? I think that could be very interesting.

Sarah

Childhood psychopathy and her discussion sounds largely like what Hans Asperger described as what would become the Aspergers syndrome constellation within the autism spectrum disorder.
