TToB: People with BPD tend to prefer classical or jazz music over heavy metal or punk. Tough or Bluff???

Comments

I'm usually a metal/heavy EDM person when I'm feeling heavy emotionally or angry. Safe for my music to be angry ๐ŸŽ‰

Jessica Lyszczasz

I play jazz on the sax but listen to a variety of music styles. Citizen Soldier has been my go-to lately. All of their songs are so relatable for pwBPD.

Kadita

Interesting! Perhaps classical/jazz helps people with BPD down-regulate. I have CPTSD and I definitely use calming music for this purpose.

I wonder how different it would be for people in the US or other cultures. Also, I think if I was answering the questionnaire, I would appreciate the music played. I would not know what they imagined under the term "punk", "soundtracks" or "oldies".

Itโ€™s TOUGH! (DOI: 10.1177/03057356231222293)

Typically BPD is borderline personality disorder and BD is bipolar disorder!

Rachel Marrows

By BPD, do you mean borderline personality disorder or bipolar disorder?

Jennifer Klaiber

does anyone prefer classical/jazz over punk?
