The commonly defined adolescent developmental stage encompasses ages 10-19, but, really, adolescence in terms of brain development, goes on until age 26, based on how significantly neuroplasticity (pruning) shifts in the mid-20s. But adding the younger, pre-adolescent group to the overall incidence rate, I suspect it to be significantly greater than 1 in 8, and more likely 1 in 4 or 5. Unfortunately so many young people are presenting with MH disorders.
