I understand the confusion. Here in Mexico, all therapists/counselors are clinical psychologists. It's a 3 years (bachelor) diploma. Maestro en psicología would be a master in psychology and doctorado is doctorate.

Kadita

It’s because if you have a PhD you can write your own green card for immigration. Masters level counselors need to apply for H1B and then wait a lot longer to get the green card sponsored

Colleen and I both liked it 🙂

Bob Goettle

So glad to hear you liked my little book 😊 I had a great time making it!

Motherf*ckin’ made my day! Thank you!

Bob Goettle

Hearing Bob say motherf*cker just made my day. It was well placed and he stuck the landing.

A Delaware school counselor was recently exposed for having bogus credentials, claiming he held a doctorate in psychology when applying to the Brandywine School district. This only came out after he was charged for SA, but the school board clearly dropped the ball when it came to vetting his credentials by accepting documentation he provided directly as proof of his degree. This not only embellished his resume for attaining a position, but allowed him to earn a much higher salary. I became aware of this case due to the individual’s involvement with a local organization my mother volunteers with called “Paws for People”. I attended a charity event this last spring where he was introduced as a consultant and made a short, underwhelming speech. https://whyy.org/articles/delaware-child-counselor-abuse-charges-bogus-degree Details about his victims and the aftermath of these allegations can be found in the following article. https://whyy.org/articles/child-sexual-abuse-allegations-delaware-elementary-school-psychologist/amp

I was thinking about more idioms you discussed in an earlier episode. I thought about mold and how it always has a small visible mold spot but the actual organism is hiding underneath, inside the affected thing. So maybe "every small mold spot has a vast mycelium underneath"... I'm not a native speaker so maybe there is a better version

Emily

Yeah, acceptance doesn't take away frustration/disappointment, but it puts it in greater perspective.

Bob Goettle

Who knows what might have happened if the pool of Spanish-speaking therapists were larger, eh? This therapist might have been passed over for someone more qualified, or might have figured out how to shape up.

Bob Goettle

I like that one better too. : )

Bob Goettle

I am by no means trying to defend what this clinician did but I wish there would have been more acknowledgment in this episode of the barriers to finding a Spanish speaking psychologist who can do immigration evaluations. Yes this clinician should not have done what they did but there can be a lot of barriers to finding Spanish speaking clinicians generally but the pool of Spanish speaking psychologists is even smaller.

Rickele

Bobcast works better than bobisode

Lauren King

I'm just loving all these Bob episodes. I hear the radical acceptance in Bob's views on human nature. I feel similarly... it decreases my disappointment when people do stupid shit.
