Speaking of Sia, I would love an episode about her psychology

I don't know if berto was suggesting this, but I'd like to second his suggestion of not just saying "rape." Saying "sexually abused/assaulted" doesn't catch me off guard as much. But casually bringing up rape really gets my anxiety going... Of course, now I'm thinking, "well they were talking about the benefits of exposure therapy" lol. But I figured it wouldn't hurt to chime in with my vocab preference. Maybe others disagree!

I appreciate the compassion for the suffering of a complex ptsd survivor - and how it fuels alcoholism. You got it bang on when it’s like growing up living in constant hypervigilance and self judgment and then taking a drink and feeling like a relaxed normal chill person for once. I may never become normal socially but I’ve come a long way after 10 years of recovery, therapy, reading, your podcast, and meditation :).

The animal stuff really upset me as it always does. The separation or devaluing of life hurts ol'tom. And I've never met a dog that just doesn't want to be loved and cared for. :'(

The movie and Shia LeBouf are interesting on their own, and the way this episode relates that to Berto's personal experiences adds another layer.

I really liked this episode when it was aired. I watched Honey Boy after it. Though, now, the name just reminds me of the song/production on YouTube. Comments are great too. It seems to be posted years ago, so I don't know where the song fits in this story. The song is about being safe from him...and jui jitsu and Shia surprise. I wonder if it was mentioned in the episode, perhaps it was.
