Honestly, poor intern. Imagine if one of your first clients died by suicide....

Emily

Your podcast is better supervision than my 2 years of supervision pre licensure

Hi Dr. H! Haven't commented before but just wanted to let you know that I really respected the way that you analyzed this situation. A lot of times when people give critique/analysis of others in their own field, they tend to either skew overly soft on them with too many excuses, or they skew the other way and are overly critical with an air of superiority over others in their profession. Your take here seemed to be very balanced - you pointed out where you thought the professionals in this situation made mistakes or fell short, and also where you thought things weren't entirely their fault as individuals. Ethical dilemmas can include a lot of shades of grey, and I think you did a great job illustrating those.

Heather

Am I understanding that the agency was literally hired by the college to provide supervision, and did not have policies on supervision? How is the college not suing the agency?

Teo

Which episode about suicide are you referring to at the end of this one? Could you give the title?

Linden Reid

To be clear, after hearing the whole episode I really liked your final analisys and conclusions.

Viqui

Hey Dr. Honda. I know you're the expert here but I was struggling to take in the fact that you didn't see a problem with the case being handled by an inexperience intern. And I really struggled to hear you say "you cant be expected to keep track of all the little details". Well.. when it comes to people's mental health i would hope so. I would hope at least we don't normalize it. I know it's hard, and they're probably underfunded, etc. I'm not blaming anyone. I just like the idea that we keep pushing for better conditions, and more thorough work so that these cases are lower and lower. I'm sure you too. Just sharing a thought. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I learn so much!

Viqui

I was about to comment the same!! I love exploring the nuances in ethical guidelines and the case-by-case definitions.

Hannah Quinn

I LOVE the ethics case episodes. Thank you for all the work you do to bring awareness. Such a sad case.
