TToB: Anger interferes with solving problems. Tough or Bluff???

Comments

How angry though? Like a little angry? Cuz when i get enraged my brain just shuts off

Nadine🐉

It’s BLUFF! Lab research has shown that when participants are trying to solve a puzzle, anger increases the likelihood of solving correctly. Emotions are our friends! (DOI: 10.1037/pspa0000350)

I said tough but I do think anger is more effective to spur me to take action than emotions like sadness or joy

Kiyoko

I said tough, but I'm now thinking we usually think of the fight/flight state as angry.

Oh, fun. Love the new clickable poll style.

Lauren King

It’s bluff for me. I think my anger helps me advocate for myself, but only because I’ve had years of therapy to give me the skills to learn from my anger. I used to just blow up at people.

Jennifer Klaiber

It probably depends on the problem and the intensity of anger, but I'm gonna guess usually tough

MB

Tough! I believe you have essentially explained as much. Complex thought is less possible when our 'fight, freeze, flee, appease' system is activated!

N Raptor

Well, it depends, I always say bad shi…t when I’m upset and I can’t identify any problem or even solve it, is hard to me no escalate thing because I don’t know how to solve conflicts… I avoid it all cost. In few words I have poor emotional intelligence and my partner is very vocal ha. So his anger and my anger does not match and we don’t solve anything.

Anne Degnore

Normally, I'd say tough, but sometimes it helps identify that something is wrong and needs to be changed/addressed. At least for me...who takes a long time to anger.

Gina Serafini

The statement isn’t giving absolutes in its language. So I’ll say tough because anger can and often does come from an aroused state and when we are aroused we Are usually stupid and not as able to solve problems.
