Fantastic episode. I’m currently doing a graduate level course on gender in education, and this was very informative for my upcoming paper. Reinforces Butlers notion of gender performativity and socialization. Thank you Honda! ❤️

I think I had the same bias as you. I had an abusive partner. Based on what I have read and listen, I was convinced he must have been narcissistic, until I have read a book "Escaping Emotional Abuse" of B. Engel. There was a chapter mentioning typical behaviour of borderline and narcissistic person. My ex partner did every action mentioned in the borderline chapter on regular basis and only some of the narcissistic, really not many of them, to be honest. He even told me couple of times he was diagnosed with borderline in past, but I was so convinced that it's a "women's" problem, that I was completely ignoring it. Maybe I also wanted to believe he did all what he did, because he had undeveloped emphaty. Somehow it was easier to believe that men can do such a thing from lacking emphaty, not from a fear of abandonment.

Pretty sure there are no small answers when it comes to you, Kirk. But that’s why we love you 😄

Based on the title I can’t tell whether this is going to be pro trans or anti trans so I’m afraid to get this book. Can someone just comment which so I don’t have to get traumatized again? Im a trans woman and I can’t tell you how many times I like a content creator only to find out they’re transohobic The title look a little like bait too
