So, should we watch more engaging tv, or get living room treadmills? :)

Eliza Rowley

It’s BLUFF! It’s the opposite: research has found that sitting while watching TV increases the risk of depression, but sitting while working does not, which suggests that using our minds helps to stave off depression. (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37467803/)

Tough. Work usually entails a condition of relative oppression and a non-seated position at least gives a sense of agency. Oppositely, leisure activities are usually selected and so seating during them is felt as non-submissive.

I would imagine hunched over stressfully might be more damaging. I did get replace my home office desk with a pub table and it’s done wonders for my back.

Tough. And vice versa probably. Are there any studies out there about how depressing it is for people having to stand through the entire duration of a movie? Imagine, going to the movies watching something like Oppenheimer.. Hellish..

Bluff? I think it doesn't matter on what we are doing while sedentary.
