That makes SO much sense, thanks!

2024-04-03 05:54:43 +0000 UTCIt’s TOUGH! Researchers found that people who hit the snooze button tend to be night owls, younger, and get less sleep than those who wake up on the first alarm. (DOI: 10.1111/jsr.14054)

2024-04-02 23:38:13 +0000 UTCLess in total time? Average time? (Say, over a week?) Tl;dr: I think it's tough, but as a good statistician, the key phrase is "it depends." For a given reference bedtime, I'd say it depends on how you snooze. If, say, you set your alarm for 645 but snooze until 7 because you actually have the time to laze around and only really need to get up at 7, then you're interrupting your sleep and getting less in total than you would if you just got up at 7. On the other hand, if one were to set the alarm at 7 and snooze multiple times to the point that one needs to rush, that technically means more sleep. Not sure about the quality though! I've personally tried snoozing of the former kind, and not at all; feels like I barely slept regardless.
