Creepy teacher, borderline couples, and grumpy boomers

I completely agree with the points about ageism in the perception that older people are grumpy. But I feel we might throw the baby out with the bath water by dismissing it completely. Ageing is a difficult and often distressing process and older people can face a range of challenges that underlie the perception of grumpiness.

Yeah! A cookie! I was thinking the same thing. Where's the food!

Thank you! I just listened to that part as well after reading your comment, and was glad to hear us get pissed off - we should all be angry, because this patriarchy is some bullshit indeed! We all lose so fundamentally and so vitally when that tail wags the dog.

Bob Goettle

I think some of the narrative about boomers complaining all the time might be millennials pushing back against older generations saying that millennials just complain all the time (e.g. about college debt, difficulties in the workforce, difficulties buying a home, discrimination issues, etc). Maybe it's not the most productive reaction, but there has been something relieving about being able to push back against the narrative that millennials are just complaining because they are entitled by saying that boomers are just complaining about millennials instead of taking ownership of the world they contributed to making

Great episode! I soo relate with the creepy teacher patron 💔 Growing up in a culture that reinforces in so many different ways that the worst thing you can be as a woman is unlikeable, the pushback and displayed anger of Dr. Kirk Honda and Bob against the patriarchy feels so healing!

Even for the US, It is interesting Dr H. to hear the anesthesia that is in place for the colonoscopy and comparing that for sedation (or lack there of) for some procedures that are for Women only (Colposcopy, IUD insertions...)

A-moon

Good to hear that everything went well with the colonoscopy💙 I was thinking about it since I had mine around the same time. In Norway they only give propofol to children. If you have PTSD and are triggered by the procedure, they still don't make an exception. The other sedatives don't work well and you remember everything. Personally, I think that we should at least get a cookie after 😄
