One time a random person paid for my stuff at the check lane (in USA). I tried to say they did not have to do that and they insisted. It was around Christmas time I remember. I felt kind of guilty because we are actually well off financially. But being from a Turkic/Islamic culture we have this saying that those who receive charity are blessed, and those who are able to give charity are just as blessed. Both people are believed to be receiving blessings from God. So to refuse a charity is in a way to refuse the giver from being blessed. (If that makes sense.) I ended up turning around and doing acts of charity myself shortly after this. It is kind of a chain reaction.
