Weekly update - August 22nd

I hope everyone is doing great, last couple of weeks of summer in the northern hemisphere, enjoy the heck out of them, for us in Canada winter isn't far away :( If you have kids I always like playing the old staples ad from the 90's around now. Anyway to progress. I've been really happy with it this last week. I should be starting out rendering the last scene right now. Problem is, I just added three more! So I have four scenes left to render. Three of which are pretty small to be honest. Scripting has caught up and I'm ahead of the renders again. I've managed to get in some testing too, so that will save me a little time during this home stretch. Next Friday was my target. Will I make that? At this stage I would probably say No, but I don't think I will be too far off it. Again I'll not cut any corners to make that date, the chapter will be finished when it drops.
There is a natural point that I could finish Chapter 9 early, with a really great cliff hanger. I would be able to make Friday no problem if I did that. However I think you guys would literally kill me if I did that. So I'm going to resist the temptation :)
For the stats nerds. Chapter 9 is currently 24 scenes long with 4 more to go which will bring it to 28 in total. Close to what Chapter 8 was in size, that was 27 scenes. There are 562 renders at the moment, which is still less than C8 which had 653 but obviously more will be added. There are 4583 lines of code, which lags behind C8's 5874 but again more will be added. So the decision to split year 2 over two chapters was the right one as the chapter sizes are around the same.
Not a lot happening away from the development for me. I've been too focused on that to spend a lot of time managing the Itch situation or setting up subscribestar.
So that's it for this week. As I said I'm really happy with the progress over the last few weeks. It does feel to me now that I'm back into my groove and I'm really excited for you all to play this chapter, I really like the way it's come together.
I'll end with my usual thanks for your magnificent support hopefully I'll be rewarding that with something really good very soon.

Quick update. I will start rendering of the final scene late tonight. I am going to be out most of today though as I have one last day of summer event planned with the kids. The scripting and code side of things though should be complete today or tomorrow, just waiting on the renders. I've been tackling Windows nonsense though this morning. I work on two PCs. One is the render rig and that's all it does. The other is the PC that houses everything else, code etc all the files and everything. As part of my workflow, I need to file share a folder that has 750gb of files in it from the non render rig. Yesterday I set up my phone to use phone link on that PC. That seems to have messed up all my file sharing. I have literally tried everything I can find through google and ai to fix the issue. Nothing works. I can no longer see that folder on my render rig. This is a big problem for the current way I work but there is a workaround , where I shift my workflow fully to the render rig. That will solve my issues short term and allow me to get this update out. I need to invest in a external drive though to move that data across the old fashioned to avoid long term issues. I hate windows sometimes, there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to see this folder across my internal network. Anyway, I'll post a more complete progress update tomorrow during the weekly but looks like as I thought I will be slipping into next week. But it really won't be too much longer :)
