Weekly Update - Feb 21

Hi Everyone,

It's been a hectic week for me. I've completed the outline story for Chapter 7, there will be a total of 25 scenes, I've fully scripted around 13 of them. Completed scenes are at 7 right now with probably 2 more being completed today. The number of renders stands at 145.

Outside of new content. I have been building the Steam page, I would like to show you a screen shot of it but I'm not sure about the Steam rules there. Anyway, it was, as I suspected not an easy process. The draft is complete now though and with the Steam overlords for review. One thing that was interesting and very disappointing I came upon was that the game may not be able to be sold in Germany. I had to fill in a questionnaire on the content as I flagged the game rightly as adult only. The game does not feature any illegal or dodgy kind of sexual content, it's all pretty vanilla really but Steam coughed up an automated message that I may not be able to make it available to the German market. I know there are a few German based Patreons, so if you have any insight into censorship laws there I would love to hear about them and perhaps make adjustments for the German market.

As part of my getting ready for the Steam launch, I've also been going through a complete end to end test of the whole game. I'm up to chapter 5 right now of the "Michael" path, still have to do the "Jon/Emma" path. Anyway, I found a bunch of little things I wanted to change and I'm changing them as I go through, a few re-renders. Once I'm done the first pass I will release and small update, bear in mind though there will be no new content.

This end to end is just the first step in my polishing exercise, I'm gathering the low hanging fruit as it were and fixing those. The next step will be a more thorough and critical exercise where I will be looking at the flow of the script, probably adding some additional dialogue and replacing some of the animations that I'm not 100% happy with. A couple of those candidates for improvement are the Tia scene in Chapter 3 and the Yuna one in Chapter 4.

All this testing and rework is not overly impacting development of Chapter 7 as I am still limited by the rendering process. Obviously if I have to use the render rig to re-render a scene that does slow it down a little but I've not had to do a lot of that so far.

Going back to Chapter 7 and the burning question I'm sure you all have is when will it be available?  Honestly, no clue at the moment! I need to be a little further in to really come up with a solid estimate. I'm not totally ruling out a half chapter release however I would prefer doing a full chapter one for each of the last 4 chapters. I'll give you a more solid timeline in next week's update.
