Ted's Dolls Interlude 8: Libby's Diary

The interludes have always been for experimentation. First one was an email exchange between Emily and Mitch. There have been letters to the editor, app reviews, and side stories. This one is in the tradition of the first interlude. It is told entirely by diary entries. And that diary belongs to our wizard in the making, Libby, Ted's eight years old sister. This makes TDi8 one of the few Safe For Work entries in the Ted's Doll canon. It also means there are intentional spelling errors and grammar errors in this story. Libby's knowledge of punctuating dialog is woefully inadequate. 😄 I hope that in capturing the feel of a child's diary I didn't go too far with making it imprecise for comprehension purposes. Please post about any sections you think are too ambiguous.

To facilitate the diary aspect of the story, formatting matters and thus this entry in the story is presented as an Acrobat (PDF) file. I experimented with several handwriting fonts. I think I've picked one that is plausibly "in the hand" of a precocious eight year old. I had one font I liked but it was illegible below 20 point. The PDF would have been over 30 pages at that point size.

This also marks the first illustrated Ted's Doll story. Four renders appearing in the PDF representing instamatic photos taped into the diary.

Comments

A very cute and also insidious kind of darkness, there.
