Before the internet and video games, primitive people had to find what entertainment they could wherever they could with whatever they had on hand.
Some took up competitive basket weaving and decided to take their skills from literal bread baskets to figurative bread baskets (probably? I'm not a historian).
Whence Wattle Arena was woven, where watchers wave while warriors weave.
This simple, walled-in venue comes with everything you see in the promos in one easy-to-use preset.
All doors and gates are rigged to open and close.
Wattle surrounding the ring is individually rigged to allow spacing customization or to hide entire bands.
The ring gate lock is rigged to allow full motion.
Numerous elements are rigged to allow for hiding and customization.
Grass and vegetation is its own group, meaning it can be hidden entirely for resource optimization while the grass itself has four different material zones to customize color variation.
Lanterns are included as standalone props to add more to the scene, and each lantern in the scene is its own rigged prop with a parented spotlight for even more customization.
A fairly modular entryway allows this environment to be used in other similar forested environments or alongside a dirt road as a main attraction between destinations for adventurous travellers.

There is no readme for this product, but it's fairly simple to understand and many items have been grouped within the preset to make customization and optimization as easy as possible for users.

At some point I want to try my own hand at low resolution spectators/crowds as an asset for others. As it stands, it's hard to find something that strikes the perfect balance between "looks good" and "performs well."

2025-10-14 11:53:45 +0000 UTCWhenever I make anything, the very first question I ask is "Would I use this?" The most important part of that question is always "Is it functional?" I have a personal philosophy that if something exists in an environment that looks it should be able to move, it should move. Perhaps THE most baffling choice to me is when vendors have doors that don't open, and then we move on down the line to windows, faucet taps, and so on. Above all else, function takes a much higher priority to me than fashion. If it doesn't work, I don't want it...and I try to apply that same logic to the things I create and distribute when I can.

2025-10-13 21:52:19 +0000 UTCI don't know if I've said this before, but what I like most about your work is that your kits are always so functional for us kitbashers. If you have a door, by god, it opens. If you've got lights, then they're always at least separate surfaces so they can be messed with. And so on. In honesty, I'm not sure I'll ever use the main part of this kit. But some of the things you threw in around the edges -- the woven palisade fence, the outhouses, the concession booth -- will be so useful that it doesn't matter whether I ever use the actual ring! There just don't seem to be a lot of PAs making props that WORK these days.
