Dev blog 15 | Jel's Cafe | 0.05a and it's many new additions

Last Friday of February! I've been hard at work over the last two weeks creating content for the game, and this week I've got a brand new build for everyone to download and try out!

I won't repeat anything that I mentioned in last weeks blog post, but know everything mentioned in that one will be included in this new build today!

JEL'S CAFE PROGRESS

Beginning of new game:

This section of the game has been redone entierly to closer match how I would like the final intro to be! You now get questioned by a mysterious individual (Who has no artwork yet so they're invisible), they'll ask you various questsions such as, your name, what avatar you want to use, what game difficult you want to play on etc.

Once this sequence has concluded you're introduced to Bliss and the gang, and are given a short tutorial day where you must completed Bliss's food order. After this tutorial the game then continues as normal!

Upgrades:

All of Marco and Paul's upgrades have now had a pricde reduction instead of costing $1000 and $2000 per upgrade level. This means they're now a bit easier to obtain!

In addition to that, the Office upgrade now also functions correctley, and will decrease how much money you end up paying once a week in Quota Mode (Which I'll talk about later). This upgrade is currently inaccessible in Casual Mode as it doesn't do anything in Casual!

The only upgrade that needs to be completed is the 4th seat upgrade, this will be added once enough characters have been added to meet its minimum requirements.

Quota and Casual Mode:

This update adds two new gamemodes! Quota Mode and Casual Mode, Casual Mode is pretty much identical to how the game worked in the previous builds, where you don't have to worry too much about money and can relax a bit more.

Quota Mode however is the intended way to play the game, it'll include additional story, more interactions, and has more gameplay attached to it. In Quota Mode the Player must reach a weekley deadline that increases after a previous Quota is paid off. The price of the Quota will increase until week 7 where it will remain at its max possible price.

If the player is careful with spending then each Quota is possible to reach, though you'll still need to balance using some of your money to buy gift items, upgrades etc to make reaching the Quota easier. (You can get extra funds from Bliss during the playtest, though if you're playing in Quota mode I reccommend against it so more accurate feedback can be given, in the future she'll only give you a small ammount for the cost of one meal).

If you're slightly low on funds, Bliss is able to give you a helping hand and boost of bonus money depending on your performance with the customers, if you don't serve customers correctley the less of a boost you'll receive from her!

After interacting with Bliss on the 7th day you'll have to deliver your funds to the "Quota man" who'll be fleshes out in the future. Failure to pay the Quota will result in a game over so be careful!

Food Items:

The new food overhual system is now completed! All characters can now order 40 possible items from the menu, more details about this was mentioned in last weeks post.

Some new placeholder icons were also added to help with navigating the new menu, as well as to match the updated character dialogue (Goodbye TestFoods, you will be missed!)

Alley Market:

The Alley Market Vendor now has a new art sprite! His name has yet to be added, but he'll likely be called "Chum"!

Cafe:

The front/enterance room of the Cafe has been removed, this area was a bit unecessary, and was only accessible during the end of a shift. The doors beforehand now act as the enterance and exit instead.

I've also added some new art assets, the Punch Clock that you use to progress the day has been added instead of using Nat's sprite, and I've also added a Calander to Bliss's Office, in Casual mode this doesn't do anything, but in Quota mode it'll tell you how close you are to the deadline.

And of course lastly, some bug fixes!

- Fixed Purchasing Gift items from Phoebe during a breaktime crashing the game.

- Fixed Purchasing the daily UI discount not refreshing daily.

Save files from previous versions cannot be transfered over to this new build so please create a new save file.
