Tyrion was referring to when he was captured by slavers and forced to fight. Not being kidnapped.

In the books Stannis and Mance Rayder are both alive. Jon doesnβt even go to hardhome cuz he gets the letter from Ramsay (which people theorize Stannis or mance forged to get him to attack winterfell). He appoints tormund to lead the nights watch to hardhome then gets ready to go attack winterfell. Thatβs when he gets betrayed because he literally appoints a wildling to lead. So in the books Jon is currently dead. We all think their going to bring him back like the show did but itβs still up in the air

Tyrion's experience is obviously nowhere comparable to someone raised as a slave since birth, but he wasn't talking about his kidnapping by Jorah.
Him and Jorrah were captured by slavers and he spent a few weeks to maybe a couple of months as a slave.
