the point is togashi actually makes it obvious that its a priority and that the world has particular physics. once he's explained everything its easy to have a head canon at least for the events u see.. like for me (spoilerrrr) the whole summon whatever u want as long as u train super hard and really want it makes more sense than how the death reaper seal is just a grim reaper cause aesthetics. both shows have good martial arts but naruto's is more arbitrary

compared to HxH, naruto powers r basically magic. If u want detailed world building and supernatural martial arts u have come to the right place. heavens area is dope aye, nothing like an og tourny arc

I’ve read the manga for both. And it’s not just that it gets harder and harder to learn but your ability will be much weaker as well when it’s in a different category than your natural nen category. And I just don’t think nen is all that much more versatile than df’s, if at all. If anything, I think that just the way the battles are executed in HxH make nen out to be much more interesting because the people fight more strategically, which I love and respect. One Piece’s fights are a bit more straightforward with over the top displays of abilities they’ve come up with. I feel it’s not really a nen vs df thing, more so a HxH vs One Piece fights thing. In one piece willpower matters a lot. In HxH you will straight up die if you don’t act like you have some sense, so that’s why I think the usage of their power systems seems so much better than One Piece’s, not that it’s actually more versatile in general.

You can actually learn a nen ability that doesn't fall within your category, its just going to be harder and harder to learn the further your category is to the one you want to learn and your going to have to set more conditions and restrictions. also the abilities you can get from nen far exceed what you can get from a devil fruit, which is only limited to Logia Paramecia or Zoan, I would like to give you an example but since I'm assuming you haven't read the manga I won't spoil it.

Also with nen you can’t do anything you imagine if it’s don’t fall in your category. So it has limits and you can only do certain things with it. Also to add to the one piece devil fruit they can also be awaken and if you have imagination you can do so much with your devil fruit. I mean look at Luffy and what he can do with a rubber fruit.

Really that’s just like being able to pick what Devil fruit you want. Once you create your nen ability or eat your df, you’re still limited to the powers you created or were bestowed. There’s not too much difference there honestly. The only difference is like you said, being able to pick your ability rather than it being at random, besides that though...

I agree nen is great but I don’t think it does all that much more than chakra can, and I think the combination of Devil fruits and Haki kinda surpass the individuality of nen in a way. But anyways yeah, I’ve been waiting for this episode
