2020-07-13 16:38:52 +0000 UTCCanon and filler in Boruto is quite contentious tbh. With the manga being monthly and tunnel visioned with the main cast/plot, it leaves gaps for the anime to fill in. A lot of the "anime canon" stuff are only really considered "canon" coz they get a short mention or are used to lead into adapted manga/novel arcs to add a tiny bit more context/emotional weight. The biggest thing it adds is to give characters who barely even appear or don't appear at all in the manga more screen-time . But ultimately, they don't do a great deal in moving or changing the main plot very much (as of right now at least).
