Before she started her adventures, Smarls lived in one of the largest self sustaining Verdan caravans on record. Her father was the main caretaker of the fruit bearing trees that grew from the roofs of some of the wagons. There's no sight like a traveling orchard. Eventually they even had their own brand of cider to sell to villages. When Smarls left to adventure, her father rebranded the cider to name it after her.
Away from her home caravan, in between towns and adventures, Smarls sometimes works at the local orchards because they remind her of home (even if none of the fruits taste as good as the ones from home).
