Back Office Update
Added 2021-10-01 15:21:48 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
Well I hope y'all enjoyed Book 5 of the smol series. There's going to be some epilogue chapters, some more bleppy love, and some loose ends tied up really nice for some feel good feels.
After that, what with it being holiday season, we'll probably swing over to Zephyr Station 8 again and see how they're doing, followed by a bit of a break.
During the break, I'll be working on the re-write and publishing of an actual smol book, Arc 1/Book 1. It'll have some unique art in it, some fleshed out words (and less grammatical errors) and a bunch of other fun stuff. I've been working with a writing and business coach for the past year on this and other things, so it's far enough along that I feel comfortable giving you a tease or two about it. Ya'll will get first crack at it, I guarantee it.

Now for some ... well, interesting news. It's not bad, it just is. Apparently Patreon is charging sales tax now, and it's up to the creator to determine what is and isn't taxible. I have no say over the amount that is taxed at the end of the day - that's up to your state; so... yeah.
The main article is here: https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043054911 but to give you a very high level overview - parts of what people are subscribed to are going to be taxed, parts aren't. I'm hoping it won't be too egregious, but... we'll see. I legally have to update everything ASAP, so those sales charges will most likely hit next month.
This tier restructuring also brings me to something else that I've been considering for a very long time, namely, removing the $1 and $3 tiers. They're a tip jar, and I love everyone who is able to toss in a dollar here or there to help out the team - however, Patreon takes roughly 50% from these tiers via fees alone, and with the inclusion of sales tax it's becoming obvious that this payment platform is going to treat us more like a business - with all the additional costs that come with it.
For people who are already in those tiers, nothing should change. You should still have access to everything you do, still have the patreon roles, and still be able to enjoy the server, the podcasts, and any other little things we got goin' on. However, if you're one of the binge-and-leave patrons (who I still love!) be aware, you won't be able to get back into those tiers.
Thank you all again for your support, and I hope to keep entertaining you for the rest of the year, into 2022 and beyond! <3
