Ben shouldn't have any memories of the smallest insect. His Connect has killed insects from the start since it was exposing a weaker mind to a greater one.

2026-03-01 05:58:52 +0000 UTCThanks for the chapter! Starting to feel like he is struggling to advance Deep Connect because his connections are always so limited and not a true connection. He sees and experiences essentially all but the targets are more often than not completely unaware unless they recognize him and make assumptions or he acts to touch them mentally and interact which requires them to actually share some of the connection to communicate. To be fair he holds back in part because a true connection with him could kill basically any mortal and could have dire consequences even for many of the deities but that doesn't change the very narrow reality of how he is using connect and how likely it is to be far from the basic intended functions. Kinda like training sword skills on a dummy. Yeah you'll get more familiar and capable with your sword but it's gonna be much slower if not impossible to truly grow without sparring other swordsmen or facing a hostile attacker. There is only so much you can learn from practicing only a portion of a skill. On the flip side these things, as a somewhat flexible part of the system, can change and grow specifically because of using them differently but I can't imagine that's easy on a normal day and it feels as though he is further from the "general expected use" with his restrictions than the average person might be when trying to awaken something with a twist away from the "expected path".

2026-02-19 16:56:02 +0000 UTCImagine that the Outsider's sense of space being incorporated into Ben's alien sense gives him the ability grow his space affinity. Ben getting to actually use an affinitied magic, and space magic at that, would be worth doing simply for the rule of cool. It'd help with getting the Grays over too.
