Whisper on the Breeze - Bridge (Pt II)

Here's a continuation of a lesson we did a while back on the fusion-y bridge of this song.

This song originally started as 2 songs which we joined together. The working title for this middle section was originally called 'Potato Man'. We should have kept the name, right?

Lots of jazzy chords in here. These are fairly typical ones which are definitely worth learning - you'll end up using them time and time again. Especially the minor 7th and major 7th chords. The Eb9 chord is sometimes unofficially known as a 'James Brown chord' and is super useful in funk stuff. The A7b13 is a great tension chord when used as a substitute for a more vanilla sounding dominant chord.

One challenge here is that each new chord is anticipated, meaning that rather than coming in on beat 1 like most things do, they come in on the & of 4. This creates a sense of forward momentum and excitement. Yay.

Also I'm realizing this video is kind of effed, my camera was really struggling to focus for some reason. Maybe the strumming is just too physical for it to keep up! Sorry about that.

TAB is attached. Drop any questions or comments down below!

Maybe the camera really wanted us to feel like we were a part of the ebb and flow of the ocean waves.

Nice chord progression. I like the voicing of the Fmaj7 coming off the Eflat9 more in the video than what's in the tab.
