It's time for Life Party - round 2!
Scroll back a few weeks to find the pre-chorus. And also, stay tuned for the chorus in an upcoming week...
Pro Tips:
- This is a great exercise in finger barring, a useful technique to have in your toolkit. All these tiny 2 note chords are often called double stops. Since they happen on the same fret, you just use the underside of your sausage fingers to barre both notes.
- The exceptions to the finger barring are the note 5 of measure 2 (use your 3rd and 4th finger), and notes 5-6 of measure 4 (use your 1st and 2nd finger).
- Try to use all downstrokes for consistent volume/tone. Also, palm mute with your right hand to tighten up the notes.
Theory Talk:
Why are all these 2 note things called double stops? Well, a chord requires 3 notes while these are only 2. So it requires its own special name.
The part was written with A minor pentatonic scale:
--------------------------5-8-
---------------------5-8------
----------------5-7-----------
-----------5-7----------------
------5-7---------------------
-5-8--------------------------
Measures 1-3 all fit the scale perfectly. But in measure 4, shit gets a little weird. We temporary step outside of the scale because the piano chords underneath don't match the pentatonic scale anymore. That's just life sometimes.
TAB is attached as a PDF and Guitar Pro file.
Buh-bye!
