Here's a guitar part that delivers some serious spank. If you haven't seen the Chorus TAB for this tune, scroll down a few posts and check it out!
Pro Tips:
- The easy thing here is that literally every chord is played by your first finger, which barres the same fret on the top 3 strings.
- You'll see that my other 3 fingers rest on the lower strings to mute them. This way they don't accidentally ring out. Because of this, you'll see my right hand will often strum all 6 strings, but you only hear the good stuff. This helps hit the strings harder and get more SPANK out of it.
- These chords hit on the 2 and the 4. Any of you rhythm-wizards out there might know that this is traditionally where the snare drum hits. The guitar locking in with the drums like this create a punchy 'n' tight sound.
Fun Facts:
- This part has a Police vibe going on - listen to Roxanne and you'll hear the similarities. You might remember from a few weeks ago that this is also the case for the chorus. This Andy Summers vibe is all over the guitar work in this song. My good friend Doctor Sung has been famously known to say 'vibe or die', and I feel like this song is no exception to the approach.
- I'm a stratocaster man, but most of the TTT album was recorded with a telecaster. Again, all about that vibe. It just felt right. That's a bonus tone-tip for ya.
TAB is attached as a PDF and a Guitar Pro file. Keep rocking my sweet little tup-tups!
