Early Warning System: Changes Incoming
Added 2019-10-04 19:57:15 +0000 UTCThose of you who follow me on the Twitter may have seen that I was warning about some changes coming to my queue and schedule. So going to bring you lot here up to speed on some of what's coming.
1. I'm going to blow up my queue.
My queue's gotten long and stagnant. People have been on it for years at this point, and things either keep coming up or things get in the way. I've probably forgotten some people on it. Some people have probably forgotten they're on it.
So it's going to get detonated.
Thankfully, since I don't take payment till it's done, this should mean nobody's going to be sitting there with money out and now the queue's gone. I apologize for anyone who's been holding onto money they'd intended to spend with me, but I think it's better this way. But it's going to let me get some weight off my back by getting out from underneath this oppressive weight of promised work that I haven't delivered.
What I will be doing, is giving people who've been waiting first kick at the cat (please don't kick an actual cat) with the new queue. I will not be taking many pieces at a time, perhaps only two or three, and there are going to be stipulations moving forward that you're going to see when...
2. I'm moving to a weekly schedule
Starting in the new year, or possibly before if I can get it all implemented, I'm going to be moving to a heavily time scheduled system. Public streams are likely to be a Mon, Wed, Sat schedule of evenings at the usual 7EST start, Tuesdays will be becoming a day off, Fridays my personal art day, and Saturdays during the day as my Panel Progress day since (hopefully) FE will be a 3 panel setup this year, and I would like to start thinking about doing more conventions.
Queue slots are now going to be scheduled. I am going to be requiring people to tell me when they can be around so that I can draw for them. I do far, far better work when you are there to watch, comment, and guide your piece in development. "I can't make streams" or "Do whatever" are actually going to cost more than streamed/attended/planned slots moving forward, since it's actually a lot more work for me to do correspondence and not be sure someone's engaged and tweaked by the picture and its progress.
Some of this is just me getting comfortable with how I seem to work best and what I enjoy the most to draw. Hopefully it won't put off too many people, but it's what I need to do to continue doing work I enjoy.
To help facilitate this, I'm going to be setting up and maintaining a Trello, and all submissions are going to have to go through a Google Forms submission page going forward. They're in development currently, and hopefully they should be ready for people to look at soon.
One of the byproducts of a schedule should be that if I have a night where I don't have scheduled work to do, then we may be able to more easily facilitate people getting stream sketches and quickie work. Also, a "Patrons Only" private stream night is on the board, so that could be an interesting thing that I may need some ideas as to what we'd be working on there. Please, leave comments or contact me directly if you have thoughts about this in particular.
Anyways folks, that's all for this update. Let me know what you all think. I'm sure a lot of people will be disappointed in the queue going poof, but it's a crippling weight I need off my shoulders to move forward.
