Luke and I need your ideas for NPCs, weapons / armor, adventurers items, and a location for a town or city map! Yes, that means you reading this. It's free, we want your ideas and we'll chose our favorites and put them into a free, ILLUSTRATED adventurer's guide which everyone on the internet will have access to! So, read the instructions further below and comment with some juicy creativity! \(^.^)/
To explain more, this last month we've been working on a test for a new Patreon tier. We chose three favorite ideas from your last suggestions for NPCs, weapons / adventurer items / armor, and one map! You guys' ideas were AMAZING and it was so hard to choose!
The crazy-talented artist we're working with, Caustic (go follow him on Instagram, you know you want to!), has already finished painting them! Now they're off to our awesome writer friend, Stephen Nowland (who has run many great campaigns for us in the past!), before I'll format them into an Adventurer's Guide.
NOW WE NEED MORE IDEAS FOR OUR SECOND TEST!
INSTRUCTIONS. Tell us what you want made for our next test (which we'll start working on before releasing the first)! We want to see how well these new tier ideas work before we make them a regular thing, so I need you to comment with descriptions of the below:
CREATE CHARACTERS. Give us the name, general description and species for a character, as well as an area in a town they might hang out in, what they like, dislike, and their general demeanor. Help us bring them to life!
For example, a male dwarf with a white stripe in his otherwise black hair, who wears brass clockwork armor, a monocle, and carries a crowssbow. He’s most likely somewhere in the magic district, as a hired guard for some strange and dangerous goods. He hates cutpurses and will gladly strangle any kender / halfling he finds thieving about, but has a soft-spot for strong, dwarven spirits.
All chosen PCs and NPCs will end up in this test's town map. Note the character names need to fit into a fantasy setting and not infringe copyright (sorry, Lord Soth). There’s a lot of fun to be had here! :D
DESIGN A CITY OR TOWN. Tell us what the main landmarks are, basic descriptions, etc.
For example, an outpost town built in the heart of a cursed forest, with white marble walls run by holy crusaders seeking to cleanse the area. At it's heart is a small cathedral where the paladins and clerics go to worship, while elsewhere are busy forges creating weapons. Beyond the town is a fallen meteorite, which this group's leader suspects has something to do with the curse.
FORGE LEGENDARY WEAPONS / ARMOR / ADVENTURERS ITEMS. Let us know what type of item it is, for example a mask that possesses its user, boots made out of beetle shells with little, living legs beneath them, or even a set of magical gloves that gives its wearer extra, ghost arms three times a day. Or a bastard flail made from a frost giant's fist, which freezes its opponents. Describe what it looks like, and what it does. \(^.^)/
Once we have your ideas, Luke and I will pick our 3 favorite NPCs and weapons / armor / adventurers items, and one location for Caustic to paint as a map.
After that, Stephen will compile the map, its key landmarks, factions / clans, and your NPCs into an Adventurer's Guide. Like this, they'll be preserved in TTRPG lore forever! On top of that, we'll also format the weapons and adventurer's items into little card .JPEGs (at least that's the plan)!
Once we've made this second Adventurer's Guide and extras with your help, they'll be released online to everyone for free! Like this, Luke and I will be able to get a good idea of how much you guys like it or not, and whether we can make it a regular monthly occurrence.
Please comment below with your ideas, we'll read each and every one of them!
Thank you and all the best!
