A grin crept upon Sophie's lips as she regarded the stool she had heaved across the room.
It was so big! Much more so than she remembered, and that empty seat called to her. At her actual height, she could have easily slid onto the surface but that wasn't an option now. Amidst this, Sophie could feel the fatigue of the day catching up with her, even as the excitement lit fires across her mind. Part of her felt the call of her bed, but she felt a youthful and punitive rebellious spark inside her.
Easing one foot onto the stool, she slowly clambered onto the seat, twisting to face the empty room. As she landed in place - she looked down and felt a gasp flicker through her lips. Her feet were not even close to touching the ground!
A girlish glee washed over her, the scientist's legs impishly swinging back and forth. The experience was fascinating, she knew how different everything seemed but at the same time her mind was adjusting quicker than she expected - so much so that Sophie could hardly believe her legs once easily reached the ground that seemed so far away.
Scientific questions, analyses, hypothesis - all gave way to simple and unadulterated joy. All her life the girl had known her mind was different, and she had worked hard to hone it, to understand all that there was to understand about the world in which she lived. However, a voice inside her had always wanted more - to understand and learn about the rules that governed the world was one thing.
It was another thing entirely to break those rules.
And that was what this device had done. Sophie had made the impossible yield to her.
With a barely contained yelp, she hopped from the stool and almost dove onto the sofa, her shrunken form finding more than enough space. The scientist felt her body ease into the leather, and as she did, she idly considered whether the weight of her tiny visitors (or 'captives', as she was sure Jenna would rebut) would be enough to indent the material in any meaningful way.
There were so many questions - hundreds rattled around inside her head. As if collapsing beneath the weight of them, Sophie threw herself onto the sofa, laughter echoing in the room as she did. Her legs lifted into the air, kicking back and forth against an unseen current.
And a current was coming - one that would likely try to sweep what she had achieved away - one that would have to be confronted.
Yet for now, it was enough for Sophie to be lying across her seemingly huge sofa, shrunken as she was.
Lying down was a mistake though; the scientist could feel those supressed feelings of fatigue rising once more.
Perhaps it was time for bed...
