"Why is this so difficult for you to understand?" It was clear that Maisie was not pleased.
Anna looked down at the shorter woman. She had been working as Maisie's assistant for just over six months now and had found her bossy and demanding. The pay was decent enough, and she got to travel with the actor, but despite the luxurious surrounds, the stress of work was always with her.
The assistant folded her arms. "I know, I know - the chair you requested was top of the line, very expensive, but I looked over the reviews and they all said how uncomfortable it was, and that it gave them back pain. I was just looking out for you."
"You're not my mum, Anna. I had wanted to sit in that specific chair, look out over the ocean views and actually relax."
Anna scoffed inwardly, she wouldn't say it but she believed Maisie was more interested in the optics for social media than her own comfort.
Maisie continued. "You're going to get the chair I wanted here within a day or you'll have to find yourself another job - and another flight home."
Anna's temper swelled. She was sick of this - sick of Maisie's childish, petulant attitude, sick of having to do everything for her! The assistant reached deep inside, through the rising anger to a part of her ancestry she rarely toyed with - but she had had enough.
Anna was sure this would teach Maisie some humility...
