Not A Toy 090

This is humiliating. 

The thought drifted across both the dwindled women's minds. Maisie had come to that after school center for a job interview, and Jenna was to be her interviewer. The two of them could never have conceived that this would be how that afternoon would pan out. Maisie had dwindled alone after tinkering idly with Sophie's device, unknowingly activating some timer setting. Jenna had come across her tiny applicant and triggered the device herself, setting it so that most of her own clothes had practically swallowed her up. Something to do with a 'narrow field' on the device - which was Jenna was thankful for, she supposed.

They each had their own lives, but now they had become entwined with the events of this insane device. The pair of them could barely believe such a machine existed, it seemed likely something purely out of science fiction. Yet here they were, perfectly miniaturized. Of course, both the women were fearful of side effects, yet aside from their rough treatment, they hadn't experienced any other oddities - both of them hoped it would stay that way.

As the two were in their own heads, disassociating from immediate events, they were ripped back to reality by the sound of something hitting a hard surface.

"There." Came Sophie's voice, hints of anticipation upon her tone.

Now being held on the table by the enormous redhead was a ruler, the sound of it atop the table punctuated the humiliation of the two women. What was immediately disconcerting was the sheer size of it. It was towering. Jenna looked away rather than face another reminder of just how small they had become yet Maisie found she couldn't.

Her mind assumed that ruler was over ten feet tall, yet she knew in reality it was a mere thirty centimeters or twelve inches! The little brunette wouldn't have been able to reach its top even if she leapt for it.

"Come on now." Sophie said, regarding the two shrunken women. She could tell the pair wasn't enjoying this, and by Maisie's reaction she was reminded again of her size. The scientist noted that - despite the women having run around a relatively giant classroom, been carried in a handbag and lifted from said bag by Sophie herself, they weren't fully adjusted to their own reduced scales. The redhead pondered how long such an adjustment period would take...

Sophie saw the hesitancy on Maisie and without thinking lifted her free hand to usher her towards the ruler. "There, that's right..." She said calmly.

Maisie quietly winced at the treatment, suddenly feeling like a child afraid of a needle. Jenna for her part was clearly displaying her frustration, her hands sat at her hips, her eyes averted from the measuring tool and the giant woman holding it.

"Stand against the ruler please." Sophie watched as the pair slowly acquiesced.

Jenna mumbled beneath her breath; Maisie awkwardly positioned herself. Both of them suddenly felt like they were dogs on show, and the awkwardness could be seen in their stances. Sophie watched this for a moment, seeing no change in her little subjects. The towering women exhaled, her frustration clear.

"This isn't a photoshoot. I'm trying to collect data here. Would you two stand up straight?" Her tone was firm and impatient.

Maisie gave the scientist a sidelong glare, while Jenna looked about ready for another outburst.

Sophie didn't wait for a response. "The sooner I collect your heights, the sooner Jenna gets her clothes."

Maisie bit her lip. "And the sooner you can get to fixing the device, right?"

Sophie was reminded of her deception. "Exactly right, Maisie. Now, backs straight, feet flat on the ground."

Jenna looked about ready to speak, but thought better of it, and slowly the pair adjusted their stances. Sophie watched this with a quiet glee.
