Little Nerves

The little brunette stood with her back facing her, Maisie could see the tension in her muscles as the former actress held onto the brass railing.

"Aww, you're so nervous!" She said, leaning against the tile wall.

Jenna's chestnut hair flared out in a wide fan, looking up the stairs. The tailored skirt, made out of one leg from Jenna's favorite pair of jeans, seemed unnaturally stiff on her reduced frame.  "N-no I'm not."

"Ooh really?" Maisie said. "I would be." Prowling up behind her.

"Will you knock it off, this is torture enough as it is."

Smoothing Jenna's hair with one hand, Maisie giggled. The tiny brunette by her waist bristled.

"Oh Jenna, I absolutely will not."   

"Whatever, this was a stupid idea."   

"Correct, but you can't back out now."

"Sure I can."

"No sweetie, that ship has sailed." Maisie purred. "It's time for you to face the music, especially after that ad campaign. You owe it to try to stop someone else with your... condition from ending up in munchkinland."

"Quit making fun of me!" Her voice was soft, tired. "I know, I know I should." Her shoulders slumped. "I have to... Why can't Jamie be here instead?"

"Because we're friends." Looping a lock of the shrunken brunette's hair round her finger. "Besides, I warned you not to jump into that stupid beauty treatment. No compensation would be worth..." she swept her hand around the tiny woman in space. "...this."

Jenna winced, nodding. "S-still though. You don't have to make fun of me."

Chuckling Maisie leaned back. "Probably not, but to be fair you're going to endure a lot of... attention for this little incident. Best to just rip the band-aid off in safety."

Grimacing, Jenna turned away. From her looming perspective, Maisie could see the edges of her lips curling into a pout.

"Now, let's go down, face the press and move on with our short lives."

Grumbling, Jenna grabbed the banister again. Beaming, Maisie followed a moment later, feeling only slightly guilty about wearing a pair of extreme heels for Jenna's first public appearance since the incident.
