Tricked & Treated Part 15

Run! Run! Run!

These words repeated in Maisie's mind. She tried to adhere to them, yet the horrible magic of that woman had made things harder. The oversized hat, the diaper and the socks were the main hindrances - when the padded mass had first been fitted to her, she had hated moving even slightly, for the 'crinkle' that sounded was too embarrassing. Now though, that was thrown to the wind, and the humiliating sound loudly accompanied her heavy breathing as she made her escape.

She finally gripped the brim of her hat as it bobbed loosely on her head and threatened to blind her, with as much force as she could muster, she tossed the accessory from her with a frantic groan.

Maisie could hear something happening behind her, yet she was too scared to look. More condescending words of Lia, more panic and shrieking from Sophie - yet the brunette had to block it out. She had to run!

'Oh shit. I'm still shrinking...' The panic rose in her. 'Oh fuck. Everything is getting so big...'

She could almost hear the witch's taunting voice in her head. 'No, sweetie, you're just getting so small...'

Maisie could barely believe this was the hall she had entered less than ten minutes ago. Her dwindling size rendered everything alien and strange. Her stride became shorter and shorter by the second. She passed by slippers left idly on the ground that now looked as big as her forearm!

'Just get to the door! Just get to the door!'

There was a flash of light. Maisie gasped.

She dared to look over her shoulder as a warm, amber glow was cast over the house - illuminating the seemingly enormous environment. Laughter echoed through the hall, accompanied by the sound of Sophie shrieking and struggling. The sound of her friend's defiance turning to pleas did nothing for Maisie's confidence. What insane magic was happening now?! The college student wouldn't dare imagine.

Maisie swallowed as she ran, nervously she realized that the books on the shelf nearby were slowly rising out of reach...

She had to get to the door - now!

The shrinking woman half-ran, half-waddled as fast as she could, yet while she moved closer to her goal with every step, it too rose further away...
