One Bad Date

Alicia was terrified. Confused. Furious.

She had somehow been shrunk, and was looking way, way up at a girl she barely recognized.

"Don't you remember me?" Came the condescending voice from above.

Alicia had been on her way home from a mildly entertaining date, it was after eleven, and as she came to a less familiar part of the city, her intuition told her it was time to call one of her friends to deter anyone waiting in the night. However, she was moments too late.

There had been a flash of light from an alley. Her phone and clutch tumbled from her hands in fright, yet as she went to retrieve them it looked as though the footpath was rushing up to meet her. In a few moments, Alicia had dwindled to positively doll sized.

She screamed, it was a hollow, high-pitched sound and before she could properly orient herself, footsteps approached. Alicia watched as her phone and clutch were whisked off the ground, and a positively towering figure came to loom over her.

The girl's voice repeated her question. "Well, Alicia - do you remember me or not?"

The shrunken woman was at her wits end. "How... why am I so small?! Did you shrink me?!" Then, the features of the giantess came into clarity. "Wait, L-Lara?!"

The seemingly giant girl snickered. "Lana, actually."

Alicia's memory struggled to recall. Lana! They had matched on a dating app a month or so ago!

"Lana! R-right! Did you... you've got to help me!"

Lana grinned. "You're so right, Alicia - so that's exactly what I'm doing. You seem a little confused though. Remember our date? I had been so excited for us to meet, and you spent the entire time talking about yourself, barely asked me a question, and went on and on about how taller women are really your thing, while I'm sitting across from you all of five feet and two inches. Then you ghosted me." The giant woman feigned a pout.

Alicia stammered over her words. "Wait, what?! This is because... I barely know you!"

The much larger woman spoke. "True, but I know you - I've been following you for weeks. Besides, I'm just your type now, right?" The last was accompanied by a cutesy titter.

The tiny woman couldn't find the words, so Lana continued. "I admit you ended up tad smaller than I expected. Got to tinker with this app of mine, I think..."

Alicia couldn't handle this, she turned to flee, overwhelmed by fear and terror - this woman would be no help to her.

"Heels were a bad choice if you're running, silly." The scorned woman took two steps and yanked the shrunken woman into the air, a hand taut around her torso, she unceremoniously stuffed Alicia into her bag and pulled the zipper closed - with space for air, of course.

Lana let out a relieved sigh as she stood alone in the streets, she turned and almost skipped away, speaking aloud. "I admit, you moving in after one date is a little fast, but when you know, you know, right?"

Those are definitely words to live by - especially with someone like Lana prowling the streets!

Note to self: Treat others as you want to be treated, and also treat them like they are as insane as this girl is, otherwise things like this might happen to you!

Thank you so much! And one does wonder!

Ivana

Love your use of depth of field and lighting to set the tone. Wonder what size she initially thought she had the app set too🤔. Fantastic short as always ^^.

Warin the Younger

Thank you so much, Melissa! So glad that all came through!

Oooo~ The picture is nice on this one, but the story is absolutely delightful. You have a very elegant way of painting a scene and setting a mood with your writing. It is exemplified here very well. I love the absolute fear I feel from Alicia and the power from Lana. Great job, Ivana! ❤️

Melissa

Thanks so much! It was nice to try out some different lighting as well as have a tormentor who is a bit comically cruel! <3

Ivana

My my my. What a moody scene, I love the story! Lana is so deliciously cruel, I love how raw and gritty (figuratively) this is!
