Jenna’s face twisted into a confused pout, glaring at the waist of her friends coat. “Well this is a lovely turn of events.” She groused, drawing the comically outsized parka about her body. “Outside on a rainy day…” She looked up, seeing the city’s skyline loomed above her like the teeth of some monster. Ellen giggled and buckled at her waist. “Very funny Ellie, can you please get me to a hospital?”
“Oh come on, you have to see the humor here, right?” she grinned, reaching out and tousling her now little friends hair. “I’ll get the vaccine next week, I have a cold today, I have a cold, Mercury is in Retrograde…” She pitched her voice down, punctuating each sentence fragment with air quotes.
“I never said that last one.” Jenna pouted, spinning around to face away from her friend, wincing as her tiny feet barely shifted the now enormous boots. She watched as a few passers-by took a wider path approaching her in the parkway. She couldn’t look some of the parents in the eye as they shuffled their progeny away from the tiny woman in a giant outfit. “Now come on, this is mortifying.”
“Oh I’ll bet. The Shrinking Virus is a huge problem, isn’t it.” Ellen stooped, poking Jenna in the nose. “I have half a mind to just take you home as you are. Maybe then you’d take medical care more seriously.”
