Not A Toy 087

The two tiny women watched their towering captor disappear from view, her footsteps echoing into the hall, and vanishing into another room.

Jenna swore under her breath, she had hoped the device would be left behind, and began taking very short strides to the other section of the desk. Maisie was seated on the cool wood, removing her sandals somewhat reluctantly. Her gaze followed over to her shrunken companion.

"What are you doing?" Asked the graduate, her voice hinting at a kind of weariness.

Jenna didn't answer immediately, as she assessed how difficult it would be for her to climb up onto the higher section.

Maisie rolled her eyes at the silence. "...Well?"

The teacher was irritated, climbing up there wasn't as easy as she hoped - suddenly wishing she spent more time on her upper body on her trips to the gym. Her eyes scanned the area, it was doable but... difficult. At last, she responded to her tiny companion.

"I'm looking for a way up to the computer."

Maisie set her sandals neatly to the side. "What for?"

Jenna looked unamused. "Why do you think? She didn't lock the computer so maybe we could bring up her email and contact someone."

"And tell them what? Do you even know where we are?" Maisie was half curious, half exhausted.

"No..." Jenna stammered. "But we could say we're trapped at Sophie Shaw's house, find her address, and get over here. She's... she's..."

Maisie padded towards the relatively enormous notebook. "'She invented a shrink ray and made us the size of toys'?"

Jenna looked exasperated. "So, what, we should just give up and live out our new lives? 'Sorry, I can't come into work on Monday I literally can fit inside my shoe right now.' Don't tell me you're back to trusting her?!"

Maisie raised a foot onto the surface of the book, pressing down slightly. She didn't respond to Jenna's sarcasm straight away, stepping up onto the surface. "No." She finally said. "But we've got to be smarter if we want to get out of this. You could probably get up there if we both tried, but then what? We'd literally need one of us to move the mouse and the other to type." Jenna looked as though she didn't want to admit to the truth of that. They were positively tiny. "And besides." Maisie continued. "She's gone to get your 'clothes'? And how long do you think she'll be gone? If she comes back and sees us trying to tell someone whats happened she would likely be mad - and I'm not about to give someone with a freaking shrink ray a reason to be mad at me."

The tiny graduated strode towards the pen at the end of the book and regarded it for a moment, Jenna absorbing the words of the younger woman. As Maisie stared, for the first time since this had happened, a small part of her mind admitted that if the circumstances were different - this could actually be quite interesting, fun even, but as it stood she was at the mercy of someone who had proven she wasn't trustworthy.

Jenna didn't want to admit it, but Maisie's perspective had merit. She couldn't stand the indignation, the feeling of insignificance, the embarrassment of it all - she wanted this to be over, but if she gave into her wounded pride then she'd likely have an angry Sophie to deal with. She sighed and sat down, idly rubbing a shin that ached from their jostled journey. "I don't think she'll make us much smaller right away even if she was mad. She needs her precious data..."

Maisie considered that, sitting down as well. "I guess if she really wanted to harm us she would have by now.

"Have you forgotten being thrown around inside that bag?"

Maisie winced at the memory. "So, lets just not doing anything too brash for now, at least. If we see a good chance to get out of here then we take it but... I don't fancy being much smaller than this."

Jenna wasn't pleased, but nodded, casting her gaze over her shoulder. "Whats taking her so long?"

Yes, I think she is right now! :D

For 1: Jenna's so small, she's on her tiptoes trying get up onto a monitor stand, and the depth of field effect really sells the distance between the two. And for 4: it's the coziness of it. Jenna's pose is adorable, with LESS of her caustic side. Plus, it was genius to have Maisie sitting on the book. I still suspect Jenna's a good deal smaller than she should be in relation to Maisie.

Haha, your favourite character then? I'm glad you're enjoying her!!

Ivana

Oh lovely! What do you like about 1 and 4?

Ivana

Eep. That would be quite the challenge...

Ivana

Ah thats lovely to hear - such high and thoughtful praise! Thank you!!

Ivana

Thank you so much! I can definitely understand how Jenna is feeling!

Ivana

I wonder what "clothes" she's going to come back out with! 'Sorry, I can't come into work on Monday I literally can fit inside my shoe right now.' I love Jenna. I love the dynamic between the two and am so glad that Jenna is listening to Maisie's grounded logic, at least for the time being. Our poor duo :( Great story and renders, as always!

ShrinkMaster 5000

Another great sequence, really drives home how small they are now. I love images 1 and 4!

Nicole Corcoran

You think between the two of them they could solve that Rubik’s cube? Lol

Bloodthirstybutcher

I love the back-and-forth perspectives in this set of panels. It not only captures the tone of the conversation but foreshadows through the camera’s forced perspective possible future outcomes for these two ending with a return to the status quo. Masterfully done Iva.

Warin the Younger

So, Maisie is finally barefoot, hell yeah! ^^. It's funny how Jenna is much more desperate than Maisie about escaping. At least, more impulsive than Maisie. In any case, always a pleasure to see your latest creations. Congratulations for this one Iva! :3
