Not A Toy 085

Sophie was exhausted.

Why were these two so insistent on acting this way? Was it really that terrifying? Of course, the scientist understood their reaction for the most part but what she couldn't fathom was the lack of appreciation for the scientific marvel that had occurred. Well, at least now she had a a chance to help them understand that as opposed to being a frantic rush to secure her precious device.

Jenna tried not to focus on just how gigantic this strange woman was compared to her, yet that was nearly impossible as she was utterly trapped in the giantess' grip, the feeling of her fingers wrapped around her half naked form was oppressive and stifling - they were like the tentacles of some great creature that ensnared her wholly.

"Are we 'done'?! Don't talk to us like we're children! If you don't-...!" Jenna's furious sentences turned to a comical yelp as she was unceremoniously whisked through the air, she felt those fingers yield from her form. Gravity took hold and pushed the woman down, Jenna's stomach lurched as she found purchase on a wooden surface, she nearly toppled over in a display entirely lacking grace.

Maisie yelled in fear as she was lifted through the air, her body overwhelmed by the heat of Sophie's skin. Yet she was quickly cooled as she was similarly deposited onto the same surface as Jenna, landing less clumsily than her tiny companion.

The shrunken pair awkwardly got to their feet, brushed themselves off and  took in their surroundings. They had been situated on part of a desk, or was it a set of drawers? They couldn't be sure, their shift in scale made it hard to discern everyday objects as they normally would. 

Jenna groaned angrily as she looked up at Sophie, Maisie glanced around - wondering if she should just run, but she understood what little that would achieve. She abandoned the idea, and her eyes turned nervously to the redhead who loomed ahead of them.

Jenna went to speak but Sophie beat her to it, the teacher's words going unheard.

"Alright you two. Can we give up on the hysterics? I brought you to my place just like I said I would."

Jenna immediately spoke up. "Is that supposed to be assuring? You fired that horrid device at me without even asking!"

Maisie nodded. "At me too!"

The teacher continued. "You realize what you've done is illegal, right? This is a kidnapping!"

Maisie's temper flared, emboldened by Jenna's defiance. "Who even are you anyway?!"

Sophie bit her lip. The worst part was that the half-naked woman was right - it didn't matter if these two were the size of her niece's dolls, she had committed a crime. Still, Sophie was able to justify her actions in her mind, which meant she could likely get these two to see reason as well. "I'm not going to hurt you, okay?" Sophie said as the two women looked unconvinced, the bodies aching from their ride in the purse.

The scientist continued. "And my name is Sophie Shaw. Professor Sophie Shaw."

Jenna folded her arms. "What, so you're some kind... of inventor? You made that awful device, yeah?"

"Correct. Although its not awful. Now, who are you two?" She asked, feigning courtesy.

Jenna grinded her teeth as Maisie felt her fists ball.

It was the youngest of the trio who spoke. "Maisie..." Her voice coated in annoyance.

The teacher almost glared at the graduate, surprised she acquiesced, but rolled her eyes as she said glumly. "Jenna."

Sophie felt the urge to press for their last names but thought better of it. "Well, Maisie. Jenna." The redhead paused dramatically. "You two are the first human beings to be shrunk!" She said excitedly, but matter-of-factly.

Jenna brought her hand to her forehead as Maisie leaned forward, confused. "Wait, when you say first..."

Sophie nodded emphatically. 'I mean, the very first!"

"Aren't there like, heaps of tests and approvals that have to happen before human testing can happen on something like that?"

"Well, yes." Sophie conceded. "But I hadn't got to that stage yet and it was you two who, I'm deducing, turned it on yourselves for whatever reasons you had."

Maisie felt frustration swell, as she remembered the time in the after school center where she had been trapped in that room and shrunk several times alone. "That thing just went off randomly!"

Sophie looked unconvinced. "No. That could only occur if someone had turned on the timer setting..."

Maisie felt embarrassment as she remembered her fiddling with what she had assumed was a kid's toy.

The scientist continued. "Thats not important. Whats important is that you're both here now and as far as I can tell fully intact. So, what we want to do..."

Jenna's irritation had been building up. "So if I have it right, you idly left an insane, experimental device not cleared for human testing lying around at a place where children could find it? How irresponsible are you?" The scolding teacher emerging.

The redhead shot a glare at the tiny woman. "That was... regrettable." She said. "An accident. Much like what I assumed caused you two to end up as... small as you were when I arrived."

Jenna's brow furrowed. "Whatever. When are you fixing this? You said that thing was broken, but I saw my..." She felt embarrassed for a moment, reminded that she was the only one in the room who was half naked. "...My dress in your bag, it was... tiny! So don't lie to us - its not broken, turn us back to normal right now."

Sophie had been in such a rush, she had figured only after the fact that that would poke a hole in her fabrication that the device was broken. The settings to restore size were equally untested on humans, but there was no reason to assume it wouldn't work here...

No, she needed these two - just for a little while.

"The shrinking function is still in order!" She blurted. "The ability to restore your size though, I need some time to repair it..."

Jenna glared, her expression read that she was certain this was all deception.

Maisie spoke once more after a silence laid itself on the trio. "So..." She wasn't sure whether to believe Sophie's words either. "How long will that take..." The graduate said with trepidation.

Sophie feigned calculation. "Uh, two days... a few at most."

The tiny pair gasped and groaned in equal measure.

The scientist tried to rally them. "You'll have to stay here, of course, but after I collect the data I need then restoring you shouldn't be a problem."

Jenna was making all kinds of curses and mutterings under her breath as curiosity took hold of Maisie. "Who do you even work for?"

The scientist winced at that question, swallowing nervously before she spoke. "A company of... very bad people. And trust me, you're much better off with me than you are with them." The redhead spoke the words, although everyone in the room was unsure as to their truth. "And... I don't work for them anymore."

Jenna and Maisie exchanged a glance, the pair were at once at their wits end and utterly exhausted. 

Sophie filled the silence. "Now, like I said I need data to get my device repaired. Now, you two are small but... how small exactly?"
