Not A Toy 064

Maisie's hands slapped and clawed all around her - trying to grip anything that could stop what was happening, but even if she had, how could she hope to win a contest of strength against her gigantic opponent?

She felt the warmth of Sophie's fingers against her ankle as she was pulled from her broken promise of safety. She wasn't just being dragged out, she was being lifted! The light of the room flooded her sight as her senses tried to process what she was experiencing, but any hope of that was dashed as the tiny graduate felt her stomach lurch. In a swift motion, she watched as the ground rushed away from her, her limbs flailed, her voice protested wordlessly and so it was with terrifying ease that Maisie was raised into the air like a toy that had been discarded by a careless child.

She screamed in anger and fear, panic overwhelming her as she rose higher and higher. "S-Stop! Stop! Stop!" Came the shrunken woman's protests.

Sophie was fascinated all over again as she lifted the terrified girl with barely an ounce of effort. Maisie's voice was up-pitched, not comically so, but enough that it robbed her anger and horror of gravitas. She could feel Maisie's leg squirming, her flesh writhing and tiny bones shifting and pressing against giant, unmoving fingers.

The redhead stayed kneeling as she couldn't help but take in the sight of her own genius. She had to admit, it was another feeling entirely to experience it on such an intimate scale - no rude stakeholders and executives with their incessant demands, no managers trying to claim credit, no snotty underlings, no sterile labs and no cameras and peer reviewed tests. Here it was just Sophie and the testament to her success wriggling in her hands. She took a breath, fighting back against the rising intoxication.

She lifted the tiny girl before her face. She was so small! "What were you hoping for there? Were you just going to live under the desk?" Her tone was scolding.

Maisie screamed as she watched Sophie's body trail before her until the redhead's face filled her vision entirely. Her blue-grey eyes deep and piercing. Maisie had known she was tiny, she had realized that when she had been able to fit beneath the desk but... seeing someone else's visage utterly encompass your sight. It was beyond anything she had ever experienced.

Maisie's hair bobbed and bounced as she squirmed, her body swaying in Sophie's grip. "Just... just..." Her words turned to a shrill groan as she found herself utterly at a loss.

"Just what? Turn you back? Thats what I'm trying to do but you both keeping running away!" Sophie said, she found herself chiding the terrified woman more than she expected.

Maisie winced as the warm breath of the stranger washed across her in waves. "I w-won't... I won't run just... just..."

Sophie rolled her eyes and stood from her kneeling position, Maisie yelped pathetically as the simple act of standing and turning on the scientist's part was enough to deliver a sickening sensation of vertigo. Maisie's body tensed as her vision swirled and the sheer drop that fell out beneath her caused her to scream once more.  Blood rushed to her head as she felt woozy and nauseous all at once. Would she survive if she fell from this height!? If she was her normal size and the distance was relative, definitely not without serious injury - but she had no idea how the science of all this worked! In reality she would fall about the length of a person's leg but that did nothing to calm her nerves and her fear.

Sophie let out a sigh of relief as she turned towards her waiting bag. Part of her worried that when she looked inside the other woman might be missing. Yet the scientist was certain she couldn't get out - not without the bag toppling over. No, Sophie would soon be able to put this absurd delay behind her. Yes, if she hadn't been careless and left this device behind then none of this would have happened but nobody told these two to tamper with such advanced technology! She just had a few things to correct, a few things to ensure and set in place and then these two would have a proper understanding of everything that was happening - Sophie could restore their size and everyone could get on with their lives.

However, the wriggling, screaming woman in her grip was a reminder that getting these two to see things her way might prove difficult. Why couldn't humans just be like her lines of code, or the circuits of her machines? Truth be told, Sophie was not someone most regarded as a people-person, so winning the hearts and minds of this panicked pair might take longer than she'd like.

"I don't know what you both think you're going to achieve by acting like this..." Sophie said, exasperated, as she strode across the room.

Maisie felt her sickness rising, her protests went unheard and all the tiny graduate could do was scream, squirm and fight to keep from passing out. Even trying to talk was becoming taxing as her muscles flared with pain. The sight of the world turned upside down, at such staggering heights, was too much and she scrunched her eyes shut, grimacing through the discomfort. In her mind, she tried to ignore the sight of Jenna's discarded, oversized clothing, the ease at which Sophie held her so, and most harrowing of all was that memory of Jenna being dropped into the stranger's bag...

That same fate was rushing to meet her, and the shrunken woman could do nothing to stop it.

I'm so glad you're enjoying her complexity! Thats really what I'm going for with her character. And thank you for all the kind words! <3

Ivana

I like the description of the... complexity that Sophie can feel as Maisie fights around between her fingers! An experience for both! I hope Maisie doesn't pass out or worse... throw up! It sounds like Sophie's intentions, in the end, will be good. But, if Jenna and Maisie don't agree to a "proper understanding" who knows what might happen! Love all the frames, giving us the awesome perspectives from both individuals. Really gives that sense of scale in an amazing way! Can't wait for the next frames and story!

The shifting of perspective really helps to sell the disorientation that Maisie must be feeling.
