I know I'm a bit late but I just finished listening and I TOTALLY relate to the whole "camera moving in your head" thing! I study storyboarding and my brain is CONSTANTLY like this! I know animatic style storyboarding can be really loose, but for your style and what you've described you want to do , I'd maybe suggest looking into trying Beatboards/Color Scripts? A lot of them can be cleaner than regular storyboards and have a more stylistic/playing with shape and color form, without drawing hundreds of frames lol. They also heavily lean towards concept art too since when beatboards are being developed - so are the script and character designs as well. I'm currently making some for my Senior Thesis and I'm only going off V04 of the script and photo references. If you'd like I can post more on the discord <3<3 So happy you are exploring more ways to do your art! (also that illustration from Warwick is incredible omg).
